Regular Care
To keep your hand crafted jewelry clean and in good condition, gently wipe off residue and oils with a soft, lint free cotton cloth after wearing. Apply cosmetics like perfume and make up before putting your jewelry on. Every now and then use a soft toothbrush and some liquid dish soap like Dove to clean your jewelry. DO NOT USE TOOTHPASTE OR OTHER ABRASIVE CLEANERS; these will scar, mar and ruin your jewelry. Rinse well and dry completely before putting away.
Don’t wear jewelry to play sports, swim, shower or while cleaning with chemicals. Bleach and Chlorine (bleach derivative) will discolor and break down metals, not to mention damage stones.
Cleaning Instruction
Clean your jewelry with warm water, Dove liquid soap and a soft toothbrush. Any gentle dish soap will work well also. Rinse well and dry completely.
Cleaning Sterling Silver
To remove excessive tarnish use a jeweler’s cloth like Sunshine Polishing Cloth and a non abrasive paste silver polish. A silver cloth (cloth with a polish built into it already) is the ideal way to remove tarnish. In general, home ultrasonic cleaners aren’t recommended for hand crafted jewelry. This type of system will damage stones and could damage crystals. Do not use liquid jewelry cleaners on your jewelry (like the ones in the plastic containers). Liquid cleaners often have harsh chemicals designed for hard materials like sold gold, diamonds etc.
Remember silver is a very soft metal and you can scratch it so don’t rub too hard when cleaning.
Cleaning Gold Filled
Frequent cleaning is recommended to maintain its color. Clean your jewelry with warm water, Dove soap and a soft toothbrush. Rinse well and dry completely.
Cleaning Copper
Put Worcestershire sauce (or generic version) in a plastic cup or glass (do not use a metal container). Put your jewelry in and swish it around making sure the jewelry gets covered with sauce; wait a few seconds (10 or so). Rinse thoroughly!!! If it’s not shiny enough polish it up with some copper polish. I use Blitz Copper Shine Liquid Polish for my untreated or uncoated solid copper. (Most of the jewelry sold on this site is untreated and uncoated solid copper). If all else fails and you still aren’t thrilled with the color then I have one more tip.

Tarn-X is a strong cleaner. Put on gloves, put a tiny bit in a glass container (this stuff is powerful – a little goes a very long way.). Use a small brush (like a make up brush or paint brush. Dip the tip into the Tarn-X and brush it onto your copper areas only. Rinse immediately. Do this until all areas are restored to the purist shine. Be careful not to get this on any stones, or crystals. Once you have cleaned it, dry your jewelry very well and let air dry the rest of the way (I do it over night). Discard used solution.
